Many students at Vanessa Secondary School come from impoverished villages in the surrounding area. We help them to lead independent and self-reliant lives.

Our Profile

We were able to contribute to the construction of buildings and toilets, partly through donations. In cooperation with the aid organization Nehemiah Gateway, a protective wall was built around the school grounds, and textbooks and agricultural equipment for rice cultivation were purchased. A well has provided a steady water supply since 2017, allowing the school to cultivate a vegetable garden for its own use. In spring 2018, with our financial support, Vanessa School inaugurated accommodation for 220 girls, and in January 2021, accommodation for 120 boys. Donations also enabled the establishment of a barber shop, the purchase of laptops for students, and the provision of ongoing computer lessons. Solar panels now generate electricity for several classrooms. Vanessa School currently earns additional income by growing and selling bell peppers, pepperoni, and chili peppers.

The Vanessa School is financed through moderate tuition fees for students from average families. Thanks to donations, 36 young people, either orphaned or from impoverished families, are currently able to obtain a secondary school diploma with English as their foreign language. They attend school full-time, receive three meals a day, and live in separate dormitories for girls and boys. Donations also cover the cost of school uniforms.

The school is named after Vanessa Machowetz, daughter of Wolfgang Machowetz.

We would be very grateful for your contribution, which will be passed on in full to the project.
